Dwight “DADA” Dore of Butlers, who was charged with Allen Broadbelt for house-breaking and larceny in November 2015, was granted bail Tuesday (May 10) at the Magistrate’s Court in Charlestown. Broadbelt was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

Defence attorney Mickia Mills, who represented ‘Dada,’ told the court it is the first time her client has been before the court for any criminal charge. She pointed out that Dore was gainfully employed by the Nevis Island Administration and Nisbetts Planation.

“Mr. Dore is a hardworking, trustworthy and God-fearing man. He is a postman and has been a postman for many years,” Mills said. “That says he is a law-abiding individual. A prolonged detention will result in permanent loss of his jobs.”

Police Prosecutor Steven Hector offered no objections to Dore’s bail, it was granted in the sum of $5,000 with two sureties.

Police Prosecutor Hector asked the court for further remand for Broadbelt. He told the court that next month the prosecution will be ready to proceed with some of the charges the 20-year-old’s charges at the magistrate court. The prosecutor said more serious offences will be brought before the high court in future assizes.
