FORT-DE-FRANCE, Martinique, Apr 3, CMC – Martinique will be in the spotlight over the next six days as it hosts the 39th CARIFTA Aquatic Championships.

The meet is scheduled to run from April 3 to 8 and will bring together over 500 of the region’s best swimmers from 24 countries to compete in swimming, artistic swimming and open water events.

It will be the second time Martinique is hosting the CARIFTA Aquatic Championships.

The official opening ceremony will commence at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Stade Georges Gratiant and will feature speeches and cultural performances, with Olympic swimmer Coralie Balmy – ambassador of the 2026 edition – expected to be in attendance.

From April 4 to 8, the competition will shift to the Pierre Samot Aquatic Centre.

The open water race is scheduled to be held on April 8 at the Anse d’ Arlet, a site selected for the quality of its waters and its exceptional marine environment.
