Minister of State responsible for Tourism, Sport, and Culture, Richard Skerritt commended the Craft House for its initiative in co-ordinating the recently concluded Leather Craft Workshop.

Participants in the workshop included former SSMC workers and a wide variety of individuals from both the urban and rural sections of St. Kitts.

Minister Skerritt thanked workshop facilitator Cidell Glen of Guyana and Craft House

General Manager, Austin Weeks for their involvement in the programme.

“The training the participants received is very important and it is a clear indication that the Craft House is fulfilling its mandate. It is also quite timely considering that the Federation is preparing to host the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show in September,’ he said.

Skerritt further expressed the hope that the participants would utilize their new expertise to further enhance the tourism product, specific to the craft industry, to the extent of establishing small businesses.

He went on to thank the Work Shop participants and also the Basic Need Trust Fund  for its financial assistance.
