The Ministry of Health has pushed back against an online post concerning the Joseph Nathaniel France (JNF) General Hospital, describing the publication as inaccurate and misleading and raising concerns about its potential impact on the institution and its nursing staff.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Health, the administration of the JNF General Hospital said it became aware of a Facebook post published by SKN Watchdog on August 25, 2026. The post was presented as satire, but hospital officials contend that it contained statements that were “incorrect, misleading” and inconsistent with the standards and values of the hospital and its nursing professionals.
The administration has rejected the publication in its entirety, maintaining that the content went beyond what it considers legitimate humour or commentary and appeared calculated to bring the hospital, its nursing professionals and its nursing programme into disrepute.
Against that backdrop, the hospital is calling for the post to be removed and for future public commentary concerning the institution, its staff and its programmes to be approached with greater care.
The Ministry of Health said such discussions should be grounded in accuracy, fairness and due regard for the reputations, dignity and safety of the individuals and institution involved.
The statement also broadened the issue to what the ministry described as the importance of responsible journalism and public commentary, particularly when healthcare workers are the subject of public discussion. While acknowledging the media’s role in bringing matters of public interest to the attention of the community, the ministry stressed that this responsibility should be exercised with accuracy and fairness.
The ministry’s position comes as public discussion about healthcare services continues to attract attention, with the JNF General Hospital remaining a central part of the Federation’s healthcare system. The latest statement makes clear that, while criticism and public discussion have a place, the Ministry believes such commentary should not come at the expense of professional reputations or personal dignity.
For the hospital administration, the matter also reinforces its stated commitment to supporting the nursing professionals and other healthcare workers who serve patients and the wider community.
In closing, the Ministry of Health reiterated that the JNF General Hospital remains committed to the delivery of quality healthcare, the maintenance of professional standards and the continued support of its staff, whom it said serve patients and the wider community with diligence and integrity.
