By The Observer Staff (St. James, Nevis) – A Butlers man was killed on the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 18 after hitting a donkey with his motorcycle and was then run over by a large truck. Tynell Martin, 22, was traveling north on the Island Main Road in front of the St. James Parish Drag Strip when he struck and killed a donkey in the road. He then lost control of the motorcycle and skidded under the wheels of an oncoming oil truck owned by Surrey Paving and Aggregate, Mr. Martin’s employer. Mr. Martin was a noted athlete who participated in track events in secondary school and in some national events. Mr. Martin was the third traffic fatality of the year on Nevis. On January 18, Valencia Robins, 18, of Jessups Village was killed when she was struck by a pickup truck as she walked along the main road at Bath Plains, near the RAMs Supermarket, about 7:30 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the Alexandria Hospital. Adolphus “Perry” Liburd, 32, was killed following a collision on Feb. 11. The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. on the road at Newcastle between Shaws Road and Rumors Bar.
