(Charlestown, Nevis) ” A new schedule has been announced for one of the Federation’s most notable dining events, the Nevis International Heritage Exposition. NICHE, originally scheduled to run for three days, has been consolidated into a series of events on a single day, Saturday, Dec. 6, according to the Nevis Tourism Authority. NICHE will be held at the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club and at Coconuts restaurant. “Our ambitious culinary festival, originally planned for October was, unfortunately, sabotaged by Hurricane Omar.” We have selected the two most outstanding events in the program and will produce a one-day epicurean extravaganza that will showcase the chefs of Nevis as well as exquisite wine, champagne, rum and chocolate from around the world,” event manager Helen Kidd said. According to a press release, this is the new schedule: 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. – Rum connoisseurs will enjoy a very special aged rum and chocolate pairing conducted by well-known Puerto Rican broadcaster and former marketing director at Bacardi, Josue Merced-Reyes. Seats for this event are extremely limited and all proceeds will be donated to the NICHE Scholarship fund for outstanding Nevisian students studying for careers in the hotel and hospitality industry.” The cost for the rum and chocolate pairing is US $35 per person. 7 p.m. -7:45 p.m. – An evening of casual elegance begins with a champagne reception at Sea Breeze, the beachfront restaurant at the renowned Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, compliments of Veuve Clicquot. 8 p.m. -10:30 p.m. – The fun continues as guests make their way to Coconuts, the poolside restaurant at Nisbet where a splendid display of gourmet delights prepared and served by our team of 13 international chefs will tantalize even the most discriminating palate. Visit each station and enjoy fine wines from Spain, France, Italy and the New World, all of which have been specially selected by Driftwood Duty Free to complement each dish. Enjoy a fine cigar coupled with a tasting of superb aged rums compliments of Rhum Clement Martinique. And, of course, no evening in the Caribbean would be complete without music so this will be a night of “Rum and Rhythm” with the ever-popular Nevisian band, Kasanova.”” Cost for the entire evening is US $125 per person. Organizers expect the event to sell out and urge advance ticket purchases. Tickets can be purchased at the event if any are available. For more information,” call the Nevis Tourism Authority at (869) 469-7550.
