After the haste to purchase tickets, the anxiety and excitement to see major artists like Sean Paul, Lady Saw, Ne-yo and Michael Bolton, and most of the clothing and shoes vanished from stores downtown, the 2007 St. Kitts Music Festival has come to an end.

Some persons still have not lost their enthusiasm for the three nights of festivity. Hear is what some of them had to say about it and which artists they would like to see on stage for next year’s music festival.

Who would you like to see at music festival next year?

Sancho, Sandy Point – The hip-hop artist I would like to see come here next year is 50 Cent. He is one of the hottest right now on the American market. I would like Bounty Killer to come again as well as Movado. Movado is now a popular artist so he could pull a big crowd for the festival. The Soca artist I would like to see is Destra. I thought this year’s festival was really good, especially Thursday night. I enjoyed myself to the fullest although Sean Paul made me feel a little disappointed. I think the turnout of people for the festival wasn’t as great as previous years. I would give it six out of ten.

Tracy Springer, Trafalgar Village – Akon should come next year. When Akon was here, he turned up the place and he has a lot of songs. I also would like to see Beenie Man and Shurwayne Winchester. Music festival wasn’t so great this year. The artists they brought didn’t interest people that much to attend the shows. On a scale of one to ten, I would give the festival seven.

Melissa, Newtown – I love Rhianna! I want to see her perform next year. Most of the dancehall artists compose vulgar lyrics so it’s hard to say which one I would like to see. They should give the Sugar Band, Nu Vybz a chance next year. The festival was okay this year, but there were too many intermissions on the first night. The bands took too long to change over and get along with the show. It was a waste of time.

They should come up with a method to speed up that. The turnout for the Thursday night was good, a lot of people. I got in when the show just started and I was shocked that there were only 50 people in the venue, but then it was okay in the end. Small Axe was very disappointing, but Allison Hinds and Machel Montano was hype.

Screwgy, Garden Housing Project – Buju Banton always puts on a good performance. I would like him to come. I also would like to see P. Diddy and Dread and the Baldheads. Music festival wasn’t good this year, only the Friday night was decent. All the artists performed good on that night to me. Sean Paul and Lady Saw were great. The Thursday night did not have good support.

Smo, Sandy Point – I didn’t go festival, but I heard my friends saying that it wasn’t all that good. They said only the Thursday night was sweet and Lady Saw was okay. I would like to see Movado and Vybz Kartel come for music festival next year. Although I know they can’t afford Jay-Z, I would like to see him. If Jay-Z don’t come, I think Young Jeezy could pull off a performance just as good as Jay-Z although he’s fresh in the music industry. They brought almost every popular artist in the Soca world so Soca doesn’t matter too much.

Genise Herbert, Basseterre High School – Although I didn’t go to the Friday night, I heard that Lady Saw was good. They should bring her back or next year because I want to see her. I think Akon and Destra should come back as well. Akon was great last year and Destra always pleases her audience.

Micadla Fahie, Soldier – I think that they really need to bring R. Kelly. I would pay millions of dollars to see R. Kelly! They bringing people we’ve seen already. The dancehall artist I would like to see is Vybz Kartel. I didn’t go festival but I heard Lady Saw was great. People say that Sean Paul wasn’t good at all. I heard Allison Hinds and Machel Montano were good on the Thursday night as well.

Bricks, Island Rhythms – 50 Cent, Bounty Killer and Movado should come for the festival next year. I’m not too interested in Soca so it doesn’t matter which Soca artist come next year. If Jam Band was still up, they would’ve been ideal. I heard people saying they enjoyed Lady Saw and Machel Montano.
