May 3 — On World Press Freedom Day, Kenneth Williams, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of The St. Kitts-Nevis Observer newspaper indicated in an interview with a local media house that press freedom was going backwards in SKN, and starting to resemble such repressive places as Cuba and Venezuela. Williams cited the recent journalist lockouts during the Opening of Parliament and the landing of a British Airways flight. He also noted that the U.S. President allows press members to travel with him and regularly engages the media, a situation that he didn’t see happening in the Federation any time soon.
