Ocean Fest, the long-running annual beach bash has resurfaced and the organizers are promising a frolicking good time to all who attend.

The event was normally held at Turtle Beach during the month of October but was moved to Frigate Bay Beach during its last run. After a five-year hiatus, the festival is back, this time taking the up the Sunday slot left open after the removal of ‘Gospel Night’ from the St. Kitts Music Festival lineup.

Shane Periera, one of the promoters and organizers of the event said that there would be something for everyone.

“We have a lot of different activities going on from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. There will be beach volleyball, tug of war, wet T-shirt competition, beer-drinking and swimsuit competition. One of the highlights of the day will be the fishing tournament that starts very early in the morning. The boats will come in with all their fish at about one or two o’ clock and this year we’ll have approximately twenty boats so that should make for an exciting tournament,” Periera said.

At the launch of the festival on June 24th, the promoters promised that there would be lots of give-aways and fantastic prizes for the winners of the various activities. When asked if the event was a family affair considering some of the more ‘mature’ activities, Adrian Lamb assured that kids were invited as well.

“This is really organized as a fun day at the beach, so sure, families are welcome. However, due to the nature of some of the activities, adults might find it more their speed. There will be music, entertainment and you can buy all kinds of food there so the kids will have fun, plus it’s at the beach,” the other organizer said.

The men boasted an impressive line up of musical entertainment, which included local acts such as Small Axe Band, Hip Hop group SMI and Sparkling Entertainment, Dancehall/Reggae artiste Simba, and live Djs.

The Ocean Fest organizers assured that safety was a major focal point for them and that stringent measures would be put in place to ensure that a safe time is had during the festivities. The free event is being sponsored mainly by bMobile and Carib Breweries and is being marketed as a fun experience that can be enjoyed by everyone.
