Featuring top international designers – among them Ximena Valero of Mexico, winner of the Designer of the Year award in Miami for her Red Carpet Collection – and models as well as international photographers will participate in the show.

CEO of Winnielle Model Management, Winnielle Guilbert said, “in other parts of the world, fashion is a big industry and the presence of Ximena Valero would boost Nevis as a fashion destination.”

“Our biggest designer, Ximena Valero will be showcasing the same lines that won her the award at the fashion weekend.”

She disclosed that a VIP cocktail is scheduled to be held on Thursday, July 19 where government officials and other prominent personalities will be present.

“Nevis Fashion Weekend incorporates more than just fashion shows and collections. There is need for contact making,” she said.

“The cocktail will mark the beginning of the event and will serve as an avenue for making proper contacts,” she added.

Others expected to attend the cocktail will include models, designers and representatives of various media houses including magazines and TV stations.

Friday July 20 will be the highlight, as eleven top international models will take to the stage by the Old Manor’s swimming pool.

Winnielle said, events for Saturday July 21 will be announced at a later time while Sunday the 22nd is scheduled to ease off participants at Sunshine’s Pinneys Beach which will also mark the end of the event.

“A fabulous beach bash at Sunshine Beach Bar Grill will help us to relax, have a feel of Nevis and have a nice time,” she said.

She added that the fashion weekend was being held during the Culturama period to assist in the marketing of Nevis.

“This will help introduce a fashion industry in Nevis. “We are talking about international photographers who might in the future be interested in using Nevis as a photo shoot location. The designers might also be interested in selling their clothing here and set up shops,” she said. “Nevis is beautiful and this is what fashion is all about, beauty.”

Digicel is the title sponsor and Old Manor Hotel the official home of the fashion weekend.

Shares Laws, marketing executive representing Digicel at the conference said the sponsorship is part of Digicels’ commitment to the people of Nevis.

Deiroy Pinney, hotel manager at Old Manor Hotel said the hotel was privileged to host the event.

“We basically jumped at the opportunity to get on board, because of the possibilities we have seen in it, as a show that involves people from different countries. This will expose and strengthen our marketing opportunities all across the region,” he said.

Designers, photographers and models will reside at Old Manor Hotel during the course of the event.
