During this Tuesday’s installment of his live radio show ‘Ask the PM”, a caller asked the nation’s leader to explain “where his money to invest was coming from”. “Where I get money from to invest in my country? Not one man can stop me from investing in St. Kitts and Nevis,”Douglas responded. It has been widely rumored by his many critics that the nation’s leader is involved with and/or owned multiple homes, condominiums and real estate developments, capital for which could not be accounted for legally. Douglas spoke to this issue, saying his real estate transactions were all above board. “Any day anyone who wants to see what I own and where it come from, go in to the banks and ask them the mortgages I am carrying at this time.”The Prime Minister indicated that his financial worth had been the result of hard work during his tenure in office, advising his populace to follow his example with regard to investing. “I have been here in this office for the last 14 years and I have encouraged every single Kittitian and Nevisian to invest here. Work hard for what you want. Don’t become petty and begrudge anybody. When you work hard for your money, you must spend it and so I work hard, whatever I have -I spend it- and I would encourage everybody in this country to do likewise.”
