OPERATIONS CONDUCTED On Monday 29th September 2008, members of the Security Forces executed a number of search warrants and conducted several search operations for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition in the Basseterre and Mansion area. A search warrant was executed on the premises of Craig Halliday of Fiennes Avenue. Chad Mills of Lower Shaw Avenue was found on the premises and was found in possession of nine pieces of crack-cocaine. As a result the drugs were confiscated, and Halliday arrested and charged with the offences of possession of crack-cocaine and possession of crack-cocaine with intent to supply. Police on Nevis also conducted routine stop and search operations in the Charlestown area.” John Mills of Cotton Ground was stopped and searched for illegal drugs, firearm and ammunition. A quantity of marijuana was found on his person. As a result of the find, Mills was arrested and charged for the offence of possession of cannabis. POLICE UPROOT MARIJUANA Police conducted search operations in the Tabernacle area on Thursday September 25th 2008 and 2000 marijuana seedlings were found growing in a large container on a plot of land. The plants, which averaged one foot in height, were uprooted and taken into custody. No one was arrested for the find. MORE DRUGS FOUND Police conducted search operations in several canefields in the Lodge Village area on Saturday September 27th 2008 and 600 marijuana plants were found growing in several areas. The plants, which ranged in height from seedlings to five feet, were uprooted and taken into custody. No one was arrested for the find. POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT Basseterre, St.Kitts,(September 28th 2008) – Police are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at about 8:45 pm on 26th September 2008 at Stapleton Village. Investigation reveal that Chavern Scott of Stapleton Village was walking along a dirt road on his way home when he was approached by three young men in a car who opened fire on him injuring him in the buttocks. The men then made their escape in the car. Scott was taken to the JNF Hospital where he was treated and warded. POLICE INVESTIGATE REPORT OF GUN SHOTS HEARD On Thursday 25th September 2007 at about 11:20 pm Police responded to a report of gun shots being heard in the St. Johnson area. On arrival investigations were conducted and it was reported that shots were fired as a white car drove along the island main road. The scene was processed by crime scene officers. Two suspected vehicles as well as several individuals were searched on suspicion of having controlled drugs arms and ammunition, but nothing was found to satisfy the investigation which is still ongoing. ARRESTS A 14 year old juvenile from The Alley, Sandy Point, was on Monday 29th September 2008 arrested and charged for the offence of unlawful carnal knowledge. Sylvester Hodge of Irishtown was on Friday 26th September 2008 arrested and charged for the offence of building breaking and larceny. Zeyn Pencheon of Christ Church was arrested and charged on Friday 26th September 2008 with the offence of driving without insurance. Gregory Walters of Stoney Grove, Nevis, was on Friday 26th September 2008 arrested and charged with the offences of possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. Jerome Williams of Stone Haven, Molyneaux, was arrested and charged on Saturday 27th September 2008 with the offence of possession of cannabis, an offence that was committed on 26th September 2008. Kory Penn of College Housing was arrested and charged on Saturday 27th September 2008 for the offence of threatening language. A 16 year old juvenile from Molyneaux was arrested and charged on Saturday 27th September 2008 for the offence of possession of cannabis. Quincy Gilbert of Molyneaux was also arrested and charged on Saturday 27th September 2008 for the offence of possession of cannabis. Kazard Brookes of Lime Kiln was on Thursday September 25th 2008 arrested and charged for the offences of driving without a valid and unexpired licence and for driving without insurance. Candacy Andrew of Cole Hill, Nevis, was arrested and charged on two counts of battery on Police, two counts of refusing to give name, using indecent, insulting and threatening language, resisting arrest, wounding and assault. COURT CONVICTIONS Javier Gomez of Ocean View who was charged with the offence of malicious damage, an offence that was committed on 15th September 2008, appeared before the District “A” Magistrate Court and was convicted and ordered to pay $3,750.00 forthwith or serve one month in prison. Audington Syder of Basseterre also appeared before the said court and was convicted for escaping lawful custody and sentenced to three months in prison. Syder made his escape on 13th May 2008 Tandra Fyfield of Buckley’s Estate appeared before the District “A” Magistrate Court on Friday 26th September 2008 to answer two counts of threatening language and he was convicted and sentenced to one month in prison and ordered to pay $1,000.00 in one month or serve one month in prison for the respective offences that were committed on 20th August and 5th September 2008. Davil Battice of East Street also appeared before the said court and was convicted for the offences of possession of cannabis, possession of cocaine and for possession with intent to supply and he was convicted and fined $30,000.00 to be paid in four months or serve two years in prison. David Penny of Lower Shaw Avenue who was charged with the offence of possession of cannabis appeared before the court and was convicted and ordered to pay $2,000.00 in two months or serve three months in prison. Kyle Bridgewater of Nevis Street appeared before the District “A” Magistrate Court on Thursday September 25th 2008 to answer the charge of possession of cannabis and was convicted and ordered to pay $800.00 in one month or serve one month in prison. POLICE RECIEVE DONATIONS BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, (Sept. 26th 2008)- Ten (10) reflective safety vests were donated to The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force jointly by Winston Browne Jr. of Monkey Hill and Kathryn Alcock of Frigate Bay on 22nd September 2008. Mr. Browne and Ms. Alcock decided to make the donation after they saw a Police Officer directing traffic at an accident scene in the night on Frigate Bay Road. The Officer was not equipped with suitable reflective clothing, thus creating a traffic hazard. The safety vests were accepted by Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Williams, who extended much appreciation to the concern residents for their timely donation. DIGITAL CAMERA On September 25th 2008, Mr. Franklyn Brand, Managing Director of Island Bakery, donated one Sony 350 Series Camera to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. In a brief handing over ceremony, Mr. Brand said that he was happy to respond to the request made by Sergeant Travis Rogers of the Narcotics Unit, for the donation of the equipment, to assist his Department with its intelligence gathering and surveillance operations. Sergeant Rogers accepted the Camera on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, and thanked Mr. Brand for his contribution to the development of the Police Force and assured Mr. Brand that the equipment will be used for the purpose intended. ARRESTS Kevin Cannonier of Phillips Village was on Wednesday 1st October 2008 arrested and charged for the offence of possession of cannabis committed on 28th September 2008. Dwight Jac
obs of Buckley’s Estate was arrested and charged on Wednesday 1st October 2008 with the offence of wounding with intent by shooting. The offence was committed on 26th September 2008. Omax Bye of Adams Hill was also arrested and charged on Wednesday 1st October 2008 with the offence of wounding with intent by shooting. David Mercedes of Old Hospital Road, Nevis, was arrested and charged on Wednesday 1st October 2008 for the offence of larceny, an offence that was committed on 29th September 2008. MORE DRUGS FOUND Police on Nevis executed a search warrant on the property of Glenroy Clarke and Fitzroy Martin both of Craddock Road for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition and a quantity of marijuana was found and seized by the police and Martin and Clarke were also taken into custody. Charges are being prepared against both individuals. COURT A 15 year old juvenile from Ottley’s Village who was arrested and charged for being beyond care and control appeared before the District “A” Magistrate Court on Wednesday 1st October 2008 and was released in the care and custody of her mother. The said juvenile was also ordered to observe a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am daily and is to be supervised by a probation officer. CORRECTION/APOLOGY On Wednesday 1st October 2008, it was reported that Renesha Hobson of Pond Hill, Nevis, was convicted and ordered to pay $25,000.00 each on two counts of embezzlement. The Police Press and Public Relations Office (PPPRO) will like to issue a correction and state that Renesha Hobson was ordered to pay $2,500.00 on each count of embezzlement and these fines must be paid within six months. ” The PPPRO will like to publicly apologize to Renesha Hobson and her family for the error and for any inconvenience that this error might have caused.
