ARRESTS Michael Richards of Westbourne Street was on 25th November 2008 arrested and charged for the offence of malicious damage. The offence was committed on 21st November 2008. Lorenston Ryan of Sandy Point was arrested and charged on 25th November 2008 for the offence of wounding with intent, an offence that was committed on 18th November 2008. Sean Warner of Sprott Street was on 24th November 2008 arrested and charged for having cannabis in his possession. Imran Browne of Buckley’s Estate on 22nd November 2008 for the offences of malicious damage and for battery. The offences were committed on 18th November 2008. COURT ACTIONS Gavin Patterson of Brown Hill appeared before the District “C” Magistrate Court on 25th November 2008 and was convicted for driving an unlicensed vehicle and ordered to pay $250.00 in one month or serve one month in prison. In addition, he was convicted for driving a vehicle without a license plate affixed to the front of vehicle and was fined $150.00 payable in one month or he will have to serve one month in prison. Morell Bryan of Craddock road also appeared before the said court and he was convicted and severely cautioned for driving without due care and attention. Rudolph Tyson of Government Road appeared before the court to answer the charge of wounding and he was convicted and ordered to pay $500.00 in three months or serve one month in prison. AUTOPSY RESULT On Monday 24th November 2008, pathologist Dr. Jesus Debrok performed a post mortem examination on the body of 54 year old Llewellyn Martin of Cotton Ground and he reported that Martin died as a result of traumatic shock due to multiple wounds inflicted to various areas of his body with a knife. On Sunday 23rd November 2008, Police responded to a report and met the deceased lying on his back in a house with what appeared to be blood coming from various parts of his body. He appeared to be motionless and the District Medical Officer was called to the scene and Martin was pronounced dead. This death brings the total number of murders in the Federation to 20 for the year 2008. One person is in custody and is assisting police with the investigation. MORE DRUGS FOUND Members of the security forces conducted an island wide stop and search patrol operation on Saturday 22nd November 2008 for illegal drugs, arms and ammunitions and a total of 68 individuals were stopped and searched and a quantity of cannabis was found in close proximity while conducting a search but no arrest was made. The drugs were taken into custody. Members of the security forces also conducted similar operations in Nevis on 23rd November 2008 and a total of 93 marijuana plants were found growing on a vacant lot at Old Manor. The plants, which ranged in height from five inches to five feet, were uprooted and taken into custody. No one was held accountable for the find. PUBLIC NOTICE In keeping with the continued upgrading of facilities to better improve the services provided by The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force to the general public, the Basseterre Police Station is presently undergoing an extensive re-construction process. Due to this re-construction, the Police Guard Room is still located inside but to the left of the old guard room. Recaldo Pemberton of Old Road appeared before the District “B” Magistrate Court on 25th November 2008 and he was convicted and severely cautioned for battery; an offence that he committed on 3rd September 2008. In addition, he was convicted for wounding and was sentenced to two months in prison.
