SHOOTING AT GODWIN GHAUT On Saturday 22nd February 2010 police from the Sandy Point and Old Road Police Stations responded to a report of shooting which occurred at approximately 10:30 am at Godwin Ghaut. Investigations revealed that Vincent Duporte of Halfway Tree was shot at By an unknown person; he fled the area and made his escape. He then realized that he had received a graze on his left ankle. The police issued Duporte a police medical form and he was taken to the Pogson Medical Centre where he was examined and treated for his injuries and discharged. No suspect is in custody, but investigations are ongoing. TRAFFIC ACCIDENT On Friday 18th February 2010 police at the Sandy Point Police Station and members of the Traffic Department responded to a report of a traffic accident which occurred at approximately 8:40 pm along the island main road below Brimstone Hill Road in the vicinity of the mechanic shop at Sandy Point. Investigations revealed that there was a traffic accident involving motor jeep PA-289 owned and driven By Aldrin “Bushy” Phipps of Main Street, Sandy Point and motor jeep P-7134 owned By Robelton Glasgow of Manchester Street, Sandy Point and driven By Terrance “Snow Man” Somersal of Downing Street, Sandy Point. The brief circumstances of the accident are that motor jeep P-7134 was reversing out of the mechanic shop on to the island main road and motor jeep PA-289 was travelling west, that is from Halfway Tree towards Sandy Point when the two vehicles collided. The two vehicles were extensively damaged and the drivers involved sustained injuries and were taken to the JNF Hospital By members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Aldrin “Bushy” Phillip received cuts and bruises about his body but was treated and discharged while Terrance “Snow Man” Somersal who also received cuts and bruises about his body but complained of pain was detained. The police recorded explanations, measurements and damages, and are continuing investigations. SHOOTINGS On Friday 19th February 2010 police at the St. Pauls Police Station responded to a report of a shooting which occurred at approximately 9:00 pm in the Saddlers area. Investigations revealed that Kelvis “Kelly” Matthew, a young man in his mid-20s of Saddlers Village was shot in his right leg while in Saddlers in the vicinity of Bradshaw Centre of Attraction. Matthew was taken to the Pogson Medical Centre where he was treated for his injuries and discharged. No suspect is in custody at this time but investigations are ongoing. On Friday 19th February 2010 police at Basseterre responded to a report of shooting which occurred at approximately 9:00 pm at Upper Prickley Pear Alley. Investigations revealed that Audrington “Weenie Man” Syder 20 years old of Wades Garden who resides there with his mother Sheila Syder was shot in his arm. Syder was taken to the JNF Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and discharged. No suspect(s) in custody at this time however investigations are ongoing. On Saturday 20th February 2010 police at Gingerland Police Station, Nevis responded to a report of shooting which occurred at approximately 4:30 am in the Zion area. Investigation revealed that Jermaine “Chalice” Freeman of Rawlins Village, Nevis was shot in his right leg and Trevis “Gangster Fat” Hanley was shot in his back. Both Freeman and Handley who are in their mid-20s were taken to the Alexandra Hospital where they have been treated and detained in stable but serious condition. No suspect(s) in custody at this time however investigations are ongoing. ARREST AT PRICKLEY PEAR ALLEY On Friday 19th February 2010 police formally arrested and charged Jeneve Mills of Prickley Pear Alley and a Woman Police Officer Monica Williams of St. Pauls both on warrants in the first instance for possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Mills and Williams appeared before the presiding magistrate at the Basseterre Magistrates Court and were both bailed in the sum of $5000.00 each to appear on Monday 22nd February 2010 to answer their bail. These charges came as a result of a search warrant that was executed By police on the premises of Jeneve Mills at Prickley Pear Alley on the early morning of Friday 12th February 2010. Investigations are ongoing.
