Police chase suspects, discover large assortment of ammunition, firearms

Three persons are in custody following the largest ammunition and second largest firearm find in the Federation.

Police conducted an operation in Keys Village this morning. While approaching premises in the area they saw four males in a yard. The men began running when they saw the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police approaching. The police pursued the men.

While chasing the suspects, one individual threw what appeared to be a bag over a wall. Upon inspection, the bag contained what appeared to be pistols and a large quantity of ammunition.

While chasing another individual, officers discovered another bag. Upon inspection, the bag contained what also appeared to be pistols, a quantity of marijuana and a large amount of assorted ammunition.

In total, six firearms – two .45 calibre pistols, two .40 calibre pistols, one 9mm pistol and one .38 calibre revolver were confiscated. More than 250 rounds of assorted ammunition were found.

The weapons and ammunition and a rental vehicle were taken into police custody. Three of the four men were caught and one managed to escape. The police are looking for the fourth man.

Technicians from the Forensic Department visited and processed the scene. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
