Police investigating Friar’s Bay incident

Basseterre, St. Kitts — Police are investigating an incident in which a man died while at sea Monday Sept. 17.

The incident occurred at Friar’s Bay at the South East Peninsula. Preliminary investigations have revealed that 60-year-old Paul Mitchum of Cayon experienced difficulty while at sea on Monday and was pulled out of the water by a family member.

The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was called and was unable to revive Mitchum after performing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The District Medical Doctor was summoned and Mitchum was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is expected to be performed shortly. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
