(Basseterre, St. Kitts) – Following a forensic examination and an investigation, police believe they have identified the human remains found last month at Palmetto Point.

According to a release from the Royal St. Kitts-Nevis Police, “Though the results of the examination do not reveal the identity of the individual, the Police, base on enquiries conducted which matched the findings of the doctor, reasonably believe that the remains are the mortal remains of Mr. Thomas David 78 years old of Challengers Village who has being missing since November of last year.”

The remains were found on Feb. 27 by a resident of Palmetto Point who reported to the Old Road Police that while he was tending to his goats, he discovered what appeared to be human remains. Police immediately responded, but were unable to reach the site because of the terrain and poor lighting in the area.

The following morning, a search party comprising of the District B Crime Response Unit and officers from the Old Road Police Station along with the district medical doctor, set out to investigate the report. The remains were found and the doctor confirmed that they were human remains, but was unable to establish identity.

Dr. Jean Rodman of The Bio Research Foundation, located at Bourryeau Village, examined the human remains and stated that the remains are those of a male within the age range of 70 years or older.

The remains may have been exposed for a period of six months to one year, the doctor said.
