Police Probe Two Homicides in Separate Shootings

Two separate shooting incidents on St. Kitts have left two males dead and one injured, and authorities are presently looking into both of them. The first incident happened at the Basseterre Bus and Ferry Terminal on April 6, 2024, between 11:30 PM and 12 AM. On April 7, 2024. When police arrived at the scene following reports of gunfire, they discovered Challengers Village, St. Kitts resident Alex Harris, 33, sitting still in a chair. According to preliminary evidence, Harris was shot and killed at the scene after falling victim to a lone, armed attacker.

The second incident happened on April 7, 2024, between 1:30 and 2:30 in the morning, at a pub on Main Street in Parson’s Village, St. Kitts. When police arrived on the scene, they found Middle Island, St. Kitts resident Rashiel James, 37, lying on the ground in a motionless state. According to preliminary investigations, a lone, armed, and masked attacker entered the establishment and opened fire. During the assault, James and Leshawn Hazel, 30, of Main Street, Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts, were both injured. After being hit in the leg, Hazel was taken by ambulance to Mary Charles Hospital in Molineaux, from where she was sent by transfer to Joseph N. France General Hospital in Basseterre to receive additional care. Sadly, James passed away at the scene from his wounds.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s (RSCNPF) Crime Scene Unit processed both crime scenes, securing a number of objects with possible evidentiary value. Updates on developments will be promptly shared with the public as investigations continue.
