Random search produces ganja

Four men — Clifford Morse, Warren Junior, Leon Westerman and Javier Charles — charged with possession of cannabis on Monday appeared before the District C Magistrates Court.

They were facing charges of possession with intent to supply.

The men were found in possession of the illegal drug when they were stopped by police officers during a random stop and search exercise.

The men appeared before Her Worship Yasmine Clarke.

Morse who is from Covington Louisiana USA but resides at Mount Nevis Hotel pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was fined $5,000 to be paid immediately.

Failing to do so he would serve a prison term of three months.

The charge against the remaining men — Junior of Emerald Forest, Louisiana who also resides at Mount Nevis Hotel, Westerman of Low Street and Charles of Bath Village — were withdrawn.

In other court news John Tittley of Farm’s Estate has been convicted of the offence of driving without due care and attention.

The offence was committed on April 24. He was fined $500 in one month.

In default he would serve a prison term of one month.
