R&B Heartthrob Trey Songz For St. Kitts Music Festival R. Wilson Story Updated: May 15 th 2015 at 1:27 pm
Music Festival fans are already in a buzz over Trey Songz, the first international act announced for the 19 th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival. The R&B/Hip Hop artiste is best known for US chart topping hits such as Neighbours Know My Name, I Need A Girl, Say Aah, and Bottoms Up (a 3x Platinum single). Trey Songz has been nominated for multiple music awards since he burst on the scene in 2005- the Soul Train Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the BET Awards, and three Grammy Award nominations. He won the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Artist, and two Soul Train Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul Artist Male in 2010 and 2014. The singer released his sixth album Trigga in July 2014, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200. His seventh studio album is scheduled for release at the end of 2015. This is the artiste’s first appearance on the Music Festival. He joins an already impressive line-up of regional performers for the June 25-27 festival including Reggae, Dancehall, Kompa, and Soca acts. The Observer understands that at least three more international acts are planned for the summer festival and Production/Artiste Selection Committee head Adrian Lam said the Committee is going after a more youthful demographic this year. He said the artistes, while capturing the appeal of a younger audience, will not be ‘bubble gum’ acts. With the Music Festival just 6 weeks away, the other acts- local, regional and international- are expected to be rolled out soon.
