Refugees Walk From Detention

(Charlestown, Nevis) – Authorities are searching for three non-nationals who were last seen Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Hanley’s Road Community Centre. The missing non-nationals are all men. They were part of a group of more than 40 which landed at Long Point on Oct. 19. The refugees, most of them from Haiti, said they were heading for U.S. territory. Officials have been planning to send the group back to their last point of departure, where their welfare becomes the responsibility of that government. Despite numerous requests, authorities did not make photos of the non-nationals available to The Observer. Anyone with information is being to ask to contact the police at 469-5391.
