More than 60 schools throughout the Caribbean are now preparing for a series of intense and thought-provoking debates as part of RBTT’s international award-winning youth development programme, Young Leaders.

Young Leaders participants in Grenada, Antigua, St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Nevis will all engage in debates that support the 2005/2006 theme: Shaping the Future…Cherishing Life, Embracing Family Values, Respecting One Another.

Participants have already identified their debate opponents through random drawing, and the debates in St Kitts and Nevis will begin on March 10, 2006, with the finals taking place on March 28, 2006. The first motion the Young Leaders will debate is “Be it resolved that traditional family values are more relevant today.” The second motion, “Be it resolved that respect for the diversity of cultures is the foundation for a peaceful and secure co-existence,” will be debated from Round 4.

Meanwhile those Young Leaders who will be submitting projects have already begun work on their creations, working toward a deadline of April 26.

Young Leaders teams are vying for the regional challenge trophy and a cash award of US$7500, which will be presented at a gala awards ceremony to be held in Trinidad in June.
