Local poets, singers and actors will perform on stage Saturday, Oct. 22 in the main fund-raising event hosted by the Nevis Ministry of Tourism under the theme, ‘All Things Tourisms Savor the Flavor.’

Tamika Lawrence, marketing officer in the Nevis Ministry of Tourism, told The Observer the rhythm and arts event is part of Exposition Nevis and focuses on a wide range of activities aimed at a larger market of guests whether they be land-based, cruise, yacht visitors or local people.

The event is being held as a fund-raiser. She would not reveal what the funds would be used for but stated the cause will be disclosed soon.

“It will be a night of poetry, drama, storytelling and music,” she said. “We have 12 poets who will be doing two poems each. We have singers, performers like Garlic, Delly Ranks and X-Man, and many local lead singers.”

Along with the performances, the event will include wine, rum and cheese-tasting for the public.  Clifton Estate wines and rums will be served, the first full-fledged rum produced in Nevis by Mark Theron.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., the poets and actors will take the stage. From 11 p.m. to midnight, local entertainers will perform and the Kassanova Band and Ecstasy Sound will play until 3 a.m. at the Riviere House on Government Road.
