ROAD DEATH IN CAMPS – DRIVER DIES, PASSENGER SURVIVES

(Camps, SKB)— One man was killed and another injured in a one-car accident late Monday night.

Dead is Shervin Johnson of Temple Alley, Basseterre, driver and owner of Toyota Corona P 8326. The wreck occurred at 11:20 p.m. on April 14.

He died on arrival at the JNF Hospital. An autopsy will be performed later.

The sole passenger, Terrence Beckford, also of Temple Alley, who was the sole passenger, was treated at the hospital and released.

The vehicle was traveling west along the island main road in the Camps area when it spun out of control and struck a concrete wall.cover1-2

The front of the car was completely wrecked. The force of the impact ejected the engine from its compartment.

This was the seventh fatal accident in the Federation for the year. Five occurred in St. Kitts and two in Nevis.

The Police are reminding all drivers that the speed limit is 20 miles per hour in towns and villages and 40 miles per hour on the outskirts. The Police also want to let the public know that they are in the process of enacting laws with respect to the use of seat belts, cell phones and bus stops.
