Dear Editor, We are coordinating a small group of private citizens whose aim is to raise the nutritional standards and palatability of school meals.” Where no schools meals exist we aim to establish a programme to provide hot lunches of quality. Our plan has the approval of the Nevis Island Government.” We understand that the students pay for their lunches at a subsidized rate.”” The newly built St.John’s Primary School at the Flats with one hundred thirty (130) students has never been given hot lunches.” We have visited the designated kitchen with an experienced chef and hotelier.” The kitchen has been designed and laid it out in a manner that would efficiently deliver a hot nutritional lunch incorporating such professional equipment as was considered necessary.” We have assessed all the kitchen equipment and paraphernalia and have obtained quotations.” Our objective is to have the kitchen at St. John’s School Kitchen up and running for the start of the next term in January 2009.” Kitchen staff and menus have been identified.” We are in urgent need of funds to purchase kitchen equipment. The total cost of outfitting the kitchen from spoon to gas range and freezers is Sixty-five Thousand dollars (EC $65,000.00).”” We believe that you may either be a past student of the St. John’s Primary School; have students attending the same school; live , work or have business activity in the immediate area, or have an interest in ensuring the development and furtherance of education in the area.”” Here is an opportunity for you to make a meaningful contribution to the school by helping to fund this project.
