On January 20, Cable and Wireless St .Kitts and Nevis Ltd, started the promotion with the BMW being the coveted prize. The drawing was due at the end of March, but it was decided to have it after the St. Kitts Music Festival to give more persons 18 years and older an opportunity to text 9696 to Cable and Wireless to win the BMW.

Mr. Pemberton claimed that he texted 1000 times. One text costs one dollar.

Mrs. Lavern Caines, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, chaired the proceedings while David Lake, Vice President of Mobile and Consumer Sales assisted with the presentation of gifts. Patricia Walters, Chief Executive of Cable and Wireless was on hand to congratulate the winner.
