The OCES Track and Field Championship has been completed and the Federation’s athlets are disappointed that they missed out in bringing back the OECS title.
Team Manager Valerie Mason said the Federation lost to the home team the British Virgin Islands. She added that she was pleased that St. Kitts and Nevis competitors won medals but was disappointed over the loss of the major award.
“We lost by seven points and came in second place,” she said. “Another first and we would have attained the OECS championship title.”
Team St. Kitts and Nevis came home with three gold and two silver medals. The team won gold medals in the high jump because of talented Jermaine Francis who made a height of 2.16 m and Warren Hazel won the men’s 400 m hurdles. Tameka Williama captured double silver medals in the 100m and 200m while Antoine Adams won a gold medal in the men’s 200 m. The team also won the male overall title while finishing in second place overall.
