A lone strike from Keithroy Freeman ensured that defending St. Pauls United edged Conaree FC 1-0 to take the 2015/2016 SKNFA Premier Division Cup last. The win came in the second match of the best of three finals played at Warner Park. Knowing a win in last night’s matchup would seal championship honours, St. Pauls began applying pressure early. The brisk style of play from the team accounted for the only goal in the game which came in the 30th minute. Meanwhile, in the opening encounter played on Saturday (July 25), St Pauls thumped the lackluster Conaree FC 3-1 on the back of goals from Keithroy Freeman, Darren Caines and Joash Leader. Glenroy Samuels scored the lone goal for Conaree in that game. General Secretary, Stanley Jacobs said the SKNFA is extremely pleased with the recently concluded National Bank Premier League final four and finals competition. “We believed that the competition went exceptionally well, taking into account all the circumstances and the use of the Warner park Cricket Stadium for the very first time,” Jacobs explained. He said the SKNFA received positive feedback from patrons and teams on the staging of the competition after the lengthy break in the 2015 season. The General Secretary disclosed that fans turned out in record numbers to witness the games, owing to the additional space that came from the use of the cricket stadium.
