Stop and Search Operations Yield Drugs

STOP AND SEARCH OPERATIONS YIELD DRUGS Twenty one (21) individuals were stopped and searched in the Basseterre area during routine stop and search operations on 10th March by police officers for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition. A quantity of marijuana was found during the searches and taken into custody. Drug eradication exercises were also conducted in the St. Pauls area on 10th March and 152 marijuana plants were found growing in a canefield. The plants ranged in height from seedlings to four feet. They were uprooted and taken into custody. Similar operations conducted in Sandy Point led to the discovery of 200 marijuana plants growing on a vacant plot of land close to the public market. The plants, ranging in height from seedlings to one foot, were uprooted and taken into custody. No one was held accountable for any of the drugs.
