A highly trained unit, made up of officers from the Defense and Police force, last week found a plastic bag containing 18 pieces of crack cocaine.

The unit, called the Strike Force, made the discovery during a routine stop and search operation in the McKnight area.

No arrests were made in connection with the crack cocaine, stated a release from the Police Force.

The Strike Force consists of 25 officers, who had to undergo three weeks of intense training, including training in covert operations.

The Strike Force went into action at the end of May, after high-ranking law enforcement officers met with the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Security.

The Strike Force is seen as one of the aggressive solutions to fight gun-related crimes.

Officers of the Strike Force can be recognized by their green berets, black polo shirts with initials ‘SF’ f or Strike Force and green camouflage trousers.

Major Leroy Percival said the Strike Force has done a good job of preventing gun-related crimes from taking place.

“When last have you heard anything about gang activities?” Percival asked. “The Task Force is progressing beautifully.”

Percival said one of the aims of the Strike Force is stop people, particularly young males, from loitering around at various places.

The Task Force has been specifically trained at monitoring gang activities.
