…And COST THE LIVES OF COUNTLESS INNOCENT VICTIMS.

TRAVEL: by Eric Mackenzie Lamb

About 29 years ago, my son Antonio and I made a trip to Japan. One of the places we visited was the city of Hiroshima which, along with Nagasaki, was virtually destroyed by an atomic bomb dropped by a US Air Force B-29 named Ebola Gay, on August 6, 1945. The bomb itself was called Little Boy.

Apart from those who died in the explosion, many more survived, but with severe wounds and dark memories.

The bombing killed between 80,000 and 140,000 people. More than 100,000 were seriously injured. Survivors are known as Hibakusha. Japan is the only country in the world which experienced a nuclear attack.

Each year, on the anniversary of the bombing, memorial services are held around the world. Children and grandchildren of those who perished say that they’re still waiting for the Japanese government to apologize and compensate them for their suffering. But that hasn’t happened.

Could this be a warning about how the dangerous relationship between Putin and Trump might explode? We can only hope that this dark history will not be repeated.
