(Charlestown, Nevis) – Not wanting to be left out of the recent trend of gun violence in St. Kitts, two thugs shot up a house on Nevis earlier this week. At about 11:50 p.m. June 5, two gunmen opened fire on a house on Government Road, causing damage to the home, but no injuries. The assailants discharged several rounds hitting the house at least twice, with one breaking a window and coming to rest in an interior wall of the house. A woman was home at the time and before the shooting started, heard what she thought was her son coming home through the front gate; then the shooting started. One bullet shattered the glass on the front door and another was imbedded into the wood on the door. When the bullets stopped flying, the homeowner looked outside and saw two men wearing hoods making their escape. She called the police, but could not identify the culprits. This was the only reported gun related incident in Nevis in the past several days when St. Kitts was descending into chaos with a number of shootings. In that spike of gunplay and also on the night of June 5, Anthony Williams of Fort Thomas was shot three times, mortally wounding him.
