BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — The St. Kitts and Nevis National Commission for Universal Health Care (SKNNCUHC) will host its final town hall-style public consultation tonight, Monday, Dec. 10 at the St. Peter’s Community Centre at 7 p.m.
Over four weeks, members of the SKNNCUHC have met with residents and citizens in their respective communities to share information on the proposed coverage outlined in the Green Paper for Universal Health Care for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“The town hall meetings last week in Cayon and Conaree had a higher turnout of attendees,” Coordinator of the Universal Health Care Secretariat Clifford Griffin said. “Officials expect this trend to continue tonight as it is the final public consultation.
“The consultations have been quite useful as the commission members were able to clear up a number of issues,” he said. “Some of the more common questions relate to benefit and financing options, as well as implications for persons who already have private insurance.”
Griffin encouraged anyone who needs more information to engage with officials tonight during the final town hall-style public consultation.
Griffin said the engagement with employee groups and other stakeholders will continue. This week, meetings are scheduled with the staff of the Ministries of Finance, National Security, Agriculture, and Office of the Prime Minister, among others.
