After a month and a half of practicing, the St. Kitts Star Acts are ready to host their play entitled After the Wedding tomorrow (Saturday) at the Basseterre High School Auditorium. The show begins at 8pm and admission for both children and adults is EC$10.

Moses Byron, the play’s director, said most of the actors who participated in the play Married Man Money Sweet last yea,  will be performing in After the Wedding. Married Man Money Sweet was a comedy oriented play featuring a young woman whose goal was to have an affair with a certain married man regardless of his status or personality. Byron said the play was well supported both times it was performed.

Six actors and actresses participate, mainly adults. Byron explained what people could expect to see when they attend the show:”The play is dealing with how people live after a marriage, not so much dealing with the wedding and reception. That’s only one aspect. As you know, after a wedding that’s where you find true love and people’s real living habits.”

Byron said the preparations went well.

“People coming out for practice sessions was a bit of a challenge but we overcame that and things worked out well in the end. People usually get serious close to the end.”

Byron, who has been associated with acting and drama for more than 20 years said being a drama director means more to him than a job. It is his passion and part of his life.

“I like the travelling and seeing the final product, the way it comes off in the end. It makes me feel good when the actors and actresses do well.”

Byron urged people to come out to the play which is scheduled to end within two hours.

“I just want to make sure people come out and see the production because it’s something I think everybody should see. Young people who intend to get married and people who are already married should come out because they might be going through some of the same challenges that the main character was going through in this play. If they come out they would be able to learn something.”

Byron said if the opportunity arrives, he would adventure out of the Federation to conduct similar shows.
